Ministers of Hospitality

The MOH’s are the face of our parish community. In most cases the MOH’s are the first members of the community visitors and new-comers meet. It is the MOH’s who welcome and set the tone for our Eucharistic celebrations and through their efforts open the channels to further evangelisation and participation with and in our family.

Are you able to: Welcome parishioners and visitors into the church,
•    take the collection(s) to the altar,
•    bring the deposits to the sacristy,
•    be friendly with people of all ages and nationalities,
•    handle emergency situations with courage and composure.
If you are interested in joining the MOH’s.

The proclaimer welcomes God’s people to the table of the Word and breaks open the word of God on their behalf. In proclaiming God’s word to the assembly, the reader stands before the people and gives them the news they need to hear.

What does a sacristan do?
A Sacristan has three main roles: Security, Mass Set Up and Clean Up, and Mass Coordinator.
Security: We are responsible for assuring proper treatment of the Holy Species, namely that of the Sacred Blood and Blessed Sacrament during and after the celebration. We are also responsible for keeping the Holy Tabernacle secure.
Mass set up and clean up: At every mass, you are responsible for setting up for both Liturgy of the Word and Liturgy of the Eucharist which means preparing all the books, vessels, offertory, and incense when appropriate.
As mass coordinator, a sacristan also assists the priest with whatever details/duties he needs done. The sacristan will check to make sure the altar servers are ready and in place as well as making sure the assigned Readers and key Extraordinary Ministers are present and ready to serve.
